Savannah

Labor day weekend was filled with sadness and fun. We took at trip to Savannah Georgia to attend Aunt Dell's funeral. We love her so much and she will be truly missed. We are so happy that she is not suffering anymore and my testimony of the Plan of Salvation has grown as I have taught the girls about what happens after we die. Avery has been so sweet and sensitive and was comforted by knowing that Aunt Dell is in heaven with her mom and siblings that have passed on. It has been a week since Aunt Dell died and everyday Avery comes up to me and tell me how much she loves and misses her.
After the funeral we got a hotel and then took the girls to downtown Savannah to see some sights and have some fun. We went on the Riverwalk which was so interesting. Savannah has so much charm and the girls really enjoyed all the people and shopping. (this is the Talmage Bridge. Isn't it pretty?)

We really lucked out because the first Sat. of the month the Riverwalk is lined by vendors selling their homemade crafts, jewelry and other items. We spent a few hours walking up and down the cobblestone sidewalk oooing and ahhhing at all the amazing things.(if you look really closely you can see all the vendor's white tents)

We ate homemade ice cream and candy, bought a few souvenirs and rode the ferry boat.
We had a great time and went back to the hotel, tired and ready for bed.

We woke up the next morning and drove to Oatland Island Wildlife Center. It was a really neat place to walk around and see animals in their natural habitats. We got to see lots of alligators, a pack of grey wolves, a bison a cougar, some deer and some amazing birds.
,
We attempted to find the bobcat and red fox in their enclosures but they were hiding. We also got to go on a "Marsh walk" a wooden pathway built above the marshlands. It was beautiful!! We were able to see some cool birds hunting fish and LOTS of little crabs. It was great to spend the day in Nature and see all the wonderful things that have been created for us!

We stopped by the Hilton Head outlets on the way home to do a little shopping and then we drove home. It was a fun packed weekend. I love taking little trips with my sweet family!

Hannah LOVED seeing all the neat animals. She is so much fun!!!

Sorry to hear about your Aunt but glad y'all got to enjoy Savannah. That's me and Al's favorite get-away place :) Good to know about the little shops. Did you see any ships come in?
